One Shot

I have written a new piece for string quartet to accompany One Shot, a dance and live video work choreographed and directed by the incredibly talented Michaël Boucherie.

This innovative and beautiful piece aestheticised the unique quality of the Stirling prize winning Laban building. Thus, over 20 minutes a live, single shot video made its way from the roof down to the studio in which the audience were waiting, all the while weaving through the staircases and backstage areas of this geometric and intricate building. The piece also featured live dancers, sometimes glimpsed as mediated through the video and at others seen live by the audience through the various glass coridoors that make up Laban’s home. It also featured the acrobatic feat of a dancer suspended vertically on the outside wall of the building, descending suddenly and unknown to the audience and obstructing their view of the action across the glass divide.

It was performed at Laban on 18th July 2014 and a video of the work will be available on this website soon.
