Shirin on her experience as a participant

Shirin Amani Azari, who took part in our adult sessions at IYDA, talks about her experiences as part of the project:

The music project filled our hearts and left us with the experience of joy, laughter, closeness, creativity and teamwork through music. Each session opened like a Pandora’s box full of joyful surprises. Our inner children were allowed space at each session to be playful with the creativity of the theme. I believe that the creativity within music allowed each of us to discover a hidden world and appreciate the quality of sound and music which had not been exposed to some of us before. The patience and the teachings of our teachers were highly professional and the love and support from the peers were truly appreciated. The safe and comfortable environment allowed each of us to express our childhood experiences and memories with joy and perform it confidently in music. The grand performance was organised beautifully which allowed us a chance to perform for an audience with pride. The project did not only bring us together as a team and created a bridge between the languages, cultures and experiences through music but it also allowed us a chance to feel valuable part of a great project.

  1. […] A participant in our adult workshops at IYDA was inspired to write a beautiful poem in Farsi after working with musicians from the Stay Close ensemble. He later set the poem to music and sung his composition at IYDA’s annual Yalda celebration. For more information on the adult workshops see here. […]
