‘Disrupting Diaspora’ published Routledge, 2023

My forthcoming book published by Routledge, ‘Disrupting Diaspora’, explores arts-practice as a means for adding nuance to theories of diaspora. This book combines exploration of my life experience with analysis of my music in order to think critically about theories of diaspora. It aims to show how this approach unveils things we might miss if we use more traditional methods alone.

It also makes the case for practice as research through *notated instrumental music composition*. This kind of music is still pretty absent from interdisciplinary discussions on both PR and embodied ways of knowing, whereas areas like visual art, dance and sound art are much better represented.

So if you’re interested in practice as research, music composition, the politics and metaphors of diaspora, embodied research, auto-ethnography / evocative life-writing, or the practices of Iranian music then there might something in here for you!

The book will be published in November 2023 but is available for pre-order here.
