Jameel Prize 3 winner announced

Dice Kayek has won the £25,000 Jameel Prize 3 for Istanbul Contrast, a collection of garments that evoke Istanbul’s architectural and artistic heritage.

The Jameel Prize is a biannual award presented to an artist inspired by Islamic heritage.

Kayek’s clothes are stunningly beautiful, reflecting the intricacy of Islamic geometric patterns. I would urge you all to visit the Victoria and Albert Museum to view them before the closing of the exhibition on 21st April 2014. At a special closing event for the exhibition held on 11th April 2014, the Stay Close ensemble will perform a range of Iranian music plus the new piece composed especially for this project.
