Undone nominated for Ivor’s classical award

Undone, for detuned solo violin and string ensemble has been nominated for a prestigious Ivor’s Classical Award in the best chamber ensemble category. Undone was performed by Sarah Saviet and Ruthless Jabiru and conducted by Kelly Lovelady and has been described as creating “a delicious, suspenseful tension against the ensemble’s taut orchestral gestures and shadings” (Peter Margasak).

Undone was released on the album Girl (Nonclassical) which features four of Soosan’s pieces exploring diasporic pathways between Iranian and western musical traditions. The album was selected as one of the best contemporary classical releases on Bandcamp in March 2024 and has been described as “[sounding] like nothing else on earth” (Gramophone), “a knockdown debut” (Night after Night) and “a vector for the complexity of being: it is screaming, laughing, finding peace and sorrow at once” (The Quietus).

Winners of the Ivor’s classical awards will be announced on 15th November 2024 during a ceremony at the BFI in London.
